Only in recent years did I realise how close the relationship between the genres of trip hop, instrumental hip hop, etc, is to the jazz world that (kind of) spawned it. And more and more artists are gleefully straddling that divide, like Makaya McCraven, Sam Gendel, Alfa Mist, Kokoroko, etc.
I’m still a massive fan of the We Out Here compilation, and for the jazzier version of this playlist, also check out my We All Out Here playlist, on Spotify here. As with that playlist, this one refreshes every day. That’s not a euphemism for regularly showering either. Every day it will give you 100 new selections from the world of jazztronica, jazzy boom bap, jazz hop or whatever you’re calling it today.
