The strings of West Africa reverberate around the world and if you’d like them reverberating around your home too, this playlist is for you.
Every morning carefully trained string theory bots start their quantum work, listening backwards and forwards to tracks from the West African region (because of course time is only linear in how we perceive it).
The upshot of their hard work is a banging playlist of mostly acoustic, traditional tracks in the traditions of Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Guinea, etc. Lots of kora, guitars and some less commonly heard instrumentation.
Regaling you with their brilliance will be the likes of Ballake and Baba Sissoko, Ali, Samba, and Vieux Farka Toure (and The Toure-Raichel Collective), Seckou and Salif Keita, Toumani Diabate, with cameos from the likes of Vincent Segal, Rajery, Driss El Maloumi
