Plenty has been written about Jonathan Richman, the Peter Pan of post-punk / new wave, so that’s not the purpose of this.

This is a compilation of Jonathan Richman’s music from the seminal Modern Lovers album through to his more recent and quirky solo career. His backing bands have changed wildly over the decades, but his energy and cheeky humour have remained constant.

There’s a strong case to be made for the Modern Lovers being the evolutionary step from the Velvet Underground to what became the post-punk and new wave scenes, they were and still are hugely influential.
