The question of what Ming the Merciless listens to when bored, between playing with things (before annihilating them) probably hasn’t troubled many scholars, but one possible answer is…
Turns out he’s got fairly decent taste for an evil genius, not just Wagner (in fact not Wagner at all!) Ming’s Desert Island Discs includes Tortoise, Coldcut, Jacques Brel, Fingathing, Dianogah (Jay Ryan’s band), Prefuse 73, Keith Jarrett, Amon Tobin, DJ Food, Add N to (X), Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, Themselves (from Anticon feat. Doseone), potsu, Massive Attack, Kid Loco, Aphex Twin, Julianna Barwick, Ol’ Burger Beats, David Essex, Howie B, Ratatat, Nobukazu Takemura and Fila Brazillia.
Definitely a bit more Flash Gordon than Kim Gordon, but worth a listen!
