i am not the man i seem,
not a stable craft,
monumental in the storm.
i have great difficulty in living.
there’s another world closer.

i wished, i telepathised,
i slipped away, and once did cry.

i, buddha, now and then;
i, jesus, when i want you;
i, posh to be alone;
i, yes, when work is done.
not a passable dread:
a golden key for an emerald lock!
i was not built on shock.
i was not, will not clock.
